Beko CFL7914S review
|Review: October 2015|
In a nutshell: The Beko CFL7914S is wider than standard-sized fridge-freezers, so check your measurements carefully before buying. It has an attractive silver finish, and good storage inside, both in the fridge and freezing compartments. It's not particularly energy efficient, and it can be noisy when running, but it's well built and should last.
Design & features
The Beko CFL7914 S fridge-freezer has a width of 70cm, which is wider than most, but it's just 60cm deep, so will fit into tricky spaces. Like most Beko products, it seems very well built, and the silver finish is attractive, although tends towards the plastic.
The doors need a hefty pull to open them, but inside you'll find plenty of space - the freezer space in particular is larger than many similar models. At the bottom of the fridge is a split salad box and there are 4 glass shelves above, plus a chrome wine rack. There's good storage space in the door too, with one large shelf and 3 smaller ones.
There's no need to manually defrost the freezer, as the appliance defrosts itself automatically in everyday use. It's safe to keep in a garage or outbuilding too, as it will work in temperatures down to -15°C.
Efficiency, noise & reliability
The CFL7914S has an A+ efficiency class, but it's actually a relatively high electricity consumer and isn't particularly cheap to run. It's a noisy machine too, with a loud background hum from the compressor, plus additional noise as the auto-defrosting mechanism goes about its ice-breaking activities.
Among budget manufacturers, Beko has a solid reputation for reliability. This model seems to be very well built, and we'd expect it to put in good trouble-free service.
Conclusion - a good budget option for tricky spaces
The Beko CFL7914S fridge-freezer has a non-standard size and could be useful for non-standard kitchens. It's well-built, with typical high Beko quality, and is finished in a nice-looking silver colour. Inside, storage is excellent.
The main downsides are the relatively high noise levels and higher-than-average price - around £550 at the time of writing this review.

Just purchased this fridge freezer, smiliar to one I had previously same Beko model only larger.
Positives: great size, good for small family or shared house, good freezer space fits into 70 cm gap.
Negatives (and really off putting): - if you don't have stairs to your flat Currys will not bring it up. So prepare to get it sorted yourself! Also it is sooooooo noisy it's criminal. Sounds like plastic popping all hours of the day and night. I used to like to sleep in the living room, can't anymore because the fridge just keeps me up and it's in the next room. I have a small two bedroom flat and it can be heard on the bedroom. Can be very off putting.
