Samsung RB29FWRNDSS review
Review: October 2015 | ||
![]() Rating: In a nutshell: The Samsung RB29FWRNDSS fridge-freezer certainly makes a statement in your kitchen, with its brushed steel doors and built-in chilled water dispenser. It has a decent storage capacity, is low on electricity use, and very quiet thanks to its digital inverter compressor. It's well-built and comes with a 10-year warranty on the compressor, and gets an "excellent" rating from us. |
Design & features
The Samsung RB29FWRNDSS fridge-freezer has a very high-end brushed steel finish that will add a touch of flair to your kitchen. Be careful not to scratch or dent it, however, because the surface will clearly show any abuse. The RB29FWRNDSS has sleek recessed handles and a convenient chilled water dispenser in the upper fridge door.
This fridge-freezer fits in a standard 60cm width and is of medium height. It has a decent storage capacity, but not as huge as some Samsung models. Be warned that because of the height and design of the recessed door handles, taller people may find opening the fridge door a little tricky.
Inside, you'll find well-designed freezer space, with 3 drawers and an ice tray, but a slightly less effective fridge layout. The main section of the fridge is good, with a full width salad box at the bottom, plus 3 glass shelves. There's also a small wine rack. The door space is cramped however, partly because of the salad drawer, and partly because of the in-door water dispenser. This isn't plumbed (which makes installation easy) but needs to be topped up manually. We can't say we found the water tank very easy to fill.
The fridge-freezer is completely frost free. A digital display and control is mounted on the interior of the fridge.
Efficiency, noise & reliability
The Samsung RB29FWRNDSS scores well for energy efficiency. Although it's rating of A+ is typical of modern fridge-freezers, the RB29FWRNDSS is at the top of the A+ range, and is one of the most economical fridge-freezers you can buy. It's very quiet too, running at a stealthily quiet 39dB.
Samsung's digital inverter compressor is responsible for both the energy efficiency and quietness of this appliance, and it also helps with reliability. In fact, the compressor, which is the heart of the cooling system, and the most expensive part to replace, is guaranteed for 10 years, making the Samsung an excellent choice.
Conclusion - an excellent fridge-freezer
The Samsung RB29FWRNDSS has a lot to recommend it. There's the designer looks and the convenience of chilled water on tap. It's completely frost-free, is cheap to run, quiet in operation and should be very reliable and long-lasting. Although the fridge space is compromised by the water dispenser tank, there's still enough space for a family, and both the fridge and freezing capacity are significantly more than you get in budget models. Overall, it's a premium product at a very reasonable price.
